In Natick, an alternative to throwing food or other compostable materials in your trash is to participate in Black Earth Compost’s curbside composting program. Black Earth Compost charges about $2.20 per week (about the same price as a large blue trash bag) to pick up your food waste on your trash day, and provides participants with one free bag of compost from each year.

Prior to reading this, which best describes your experience with this service?

Which of the following, if any, explain why you don’t use Black Earth’s curbside composting service now? (Choose all that apply)

Which of the following potential changes would make you most likely to sign up with Black Earth, if any? (You can choose up to FIVE)

Which ONE of the following would you be most interested in doing in the future, if any?

Why do you use Black Earth? (Choose all that apply)

About 1,300 Natick households are currently signed up for the Black Earth composting program. If 200 more Natick households sign up, Black Earth will lower their annual fee by $10 for everyone as part of a “density discount”.

Which of these, if any, would motivate you to encourage your Natick friends and neighbors to sign up with Black Earth and help all participants receive this discount? (Choose all that apply)

What actions would you be willing to take, if any, to encourage more participation in the program? (Choose all that apply)

Any other comments or suggestions about composting or food waste in Natick?
