The City of Arroyo Grande collects a 10% Transient Occupancy Tax (“TOT”) - also known as a “hotel tax” - that is paid by people who stay in hotels, motels, and short-term rentals within the city. These funds help support general City services such as public safety, parks and streets.
Prior to reading this, which best describes your familiarity with the City’s Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT)?
Arroyo Grande has a slightly lower Transient Occupancy Tax rate than surrounding communities. This can give Arroyo Grande a slight advantage in attracting visitors. This also means that the City of Arroyo Grande has slightly less money for City services.
