Local housing in Tahoe city area.
I believe my neighborhood needs new roads/paving - falling apart. This is the Cathedral Forest Area in Tahoe City.
Better response to needs. I called 2 weeks ago reporting that the parking lot behind Fat Cat in Tahoe City needed to be cleaned.. A real mess and as of today it has not been cleaned. Lots of liquor bottles, just plain garbage, clothes on the ground. Not a good represention of our community. Another garbage can in the area might help and emptying when it is full would help.
Assist the TCPUD with maintenance of the bike path during the winter in the areas between Tahoe House to Transit Center (64 acres) and Dollar Hill through Tahoe City to 64 acres. These sections need to be cleared during the winter as they are heavily used by seasonal worked (J-1's) that do not have vehicles. They end up walking in the highway. The county should assist the Tahoe City PUD with this expense. (No, I do not work for the TC PUd.)
Have an office in the North tahoe area for basic services, recording realestate, permits etc
Listen and act on what the voters want in Lake Tahoe and Squaw Valley, and NOT always big business.
Hire a park maintenance/liaison person available on weekends to field issues between park users (ball field, dog park on Grove) and neighbors. Make a continuous loop TART route that runs both directions (two buses) from Truckee-Kings Beach-Tahoe City-Truckee.
I live in Lake Tahoe and feel under represented by Placer County. Our input is discounted. I would like to see increased funding for our library and I would like to see the County address parking issues in our community. The last 2 county road projects eliminated much needed parking for locals and tourists.
More local control at Tahoe
I live in Alpine Peaks/Ward Canyon on the West Shore of Tahoe and our roads are in very poor condition. They have not been repaved in over 25 years and become unsafe during the winter and take their tool on autos during the rest of the year due to the rough and cracked pavement.
Very, very sad that the animal shelter in Tahoe Vista closed. It's a real disservice to our community and I wish it was available much close so we wouldn't have to drive to Truckee. I can, but so many people don't have the opportunities that I have.
Spend more money/focus in the Tahoe Area (road maintenance, snow removal, parks maintenance/cleaning
Incredibly disappointed in the Supervisors from outside the area controlling the development in the Lake Tahoe Basin while they have no idea or care about the actual repercussions, even when the one supervisor from the area votes against projects.
Careful examination of proposed building projects in the Tahoe Basin is essential. Public input is vital to a successful project. The traffic on SR 267 is already a problem many times during the year and will get only worse with proposed building on the ridgeline above Kings Beach.
Keep the Library open real time hours. Tahoe City has such limited hours, it is impossible to get there...Meanwhile the big fancy 'City' Libraries are open. Fund the Library system please. Anyone living in Tahoe has to drive to Auburn for many County services. Also, there is no Code enforcement for things like rentals, noise, extra illegal rooms, parking-or lack thereof, illegal boat, kayak, etc rentals, crowded sidewalks covered with merchants signs, pictures, wares etc.
Listen to the local residents - North Tahoe does NOT need nor want the developments in Squaw Valley or Martis Valley!
Animal services in North Tahoe, Help in the housing market by giving incentives to home owners who rent to locals and not Air B&B, VRBO, ect.
Incorporate north Lake Tahoe - former 22 year resident.
1. Road maintenance and snow removal in Olympic Valley is far substandard. 2. Bus service in North Tahoe/Truckee is too infrequent to provide viable public transit and routes are inefficient.
The Placer County Board of Supervisors has completely disregarded their North Tahoe constituents, planning commission and laws to approve the Martis Valley West project. It is unconscionable and I am horrified that my tax dollars are going to be spent on years of litigation. This issue alone overshadows all of the other services that I get from Placer County.
Be more responsive to community needs in Tahoe region
The county should contact by mail, all property owners in unincorporated communities such as Tahoe City, whenever important issues arise concerning land use. Resort towns have many homeowners who are not "in the loop" because they don't have access to local papers and are unaware when the county is approving plans for developments.
Alternate modes or thinking on transpiration. Like... - More center lanes on two way streets that could be use as 2 line one way and one the other way and then flipped for traffic flow. They do this for ski traffic in Tahoe city but how great would it be if the entire run of the major roads around the lake and to Truckee etc. could do this… - Gondola from Tahoe City to Alpine-Squaw, like south shore has. - Truly contiguous bike bath around the lake on the Placer side, there are a couple spots it forces you to the road which is unsafe.
i feel that the animal shelter in tahoe vista was a definite need and that they just ignored all of the community members desire to keep at least a small service there. i feel that we are under represented and that lake tahie should be independent from all the placer county decisions made by people who dont even live in the tahoe area.
I honestly don't know. We called the Placer Sheriffs Office on two vicious barking dogs. They responded. We noticed that they sent 3 deputies to contact a neighbor that was suicidal. I talked to the deputies and was impressed with the time they all took to talk with me. One gave a business card & cell phone. Very polite. I have gone into the public works office in Tahoe Vista and have spoken with Dan about the improvements in the Core. Very helpful. Pete and Donna Pearson 8727 Trout, Kings Beach.
Not allowing over-development in the Tahoe area, i.e., 760 homes at Northstar and 90,000 sq. ft. water park in Squaw Valley
Better road repairs in the Tahoe Region.
At the moment I can't think of an easy way to improve one Placer Co service. most are handled very well, more time to think on it would be helpful. But I really wish that the Placer County Board of Supervisors would listen to the people and what they are saying about over development in the County, particularly in the Tahoe area. Witnessing certain members of the Board being on their cell phones during very important public hearings on Martis Valley and Squaw Valley is difficult to watch. You really get the feeling that their minds are already made up before the meeting starts, and I've seen this in more than one hearing. This is such an important time for Placer Co and the future of this area, it is a turning point and I hope that Placer Co & it's BOS realize that there needs to be a balance between over development vs. money. Thank you.
I don't use many, but am clearly a user of public safety and roads. I'd like to see a financial statement of what the Tahoe Truckee region sends to Placer County in property taxes and fees, and what it sends back in return.
To keep the police station and dispatcher for the Tahoe area based in the Tahoe area. It is frustrating when you call for the police and the dispatcher is miles away and doesn't even know the area you are talking about!
we are only part time residents. Too much traffic in summer - Lake Tahoe.
I live in Tahoe City. Please tear down the old Fire Station and build a small cafe (sandwiches, soft drinks, pastries to serve Commons Beach), with a small terraced park and a fire pit so you can sit there in the winter and sip hot chocolate.
Stop development around lake Tahoe. The roads can't handle the extra traffic. Think of your constituents safety. Don't be bought off with developers false promises.People should come before money.
Closer ties to the Tahoe community. Regulation and development strategies that work in the foothills don't apply well to the special environment up the hill.
I have a cabin in Tahoe City and come up infrequently. The county has always responded when needed and I do not know enough to suggest a way to improve service
An important improvement would be if the county board of supervisors and the county planning departments would listen to what the local citizens want to have in their own towns, especially something like expanded development of the Tahoe region. The special interest groups of developers is not what the long term citizens and current residents want and the county just acts like it needs a paycheck. This county government does not even try to earn respect. They need to sit back and realize that this county is one of 5 counties that are the stewards of the future of Lake Tahoe. This is not just "anywhere USA" but a very singularly special place. Impact of human development is singularly the top cause of destruction of the lake. To improve, the county simply needs to restrict development to just restoring old development and not allowing any new development in the areas in the Tahoe basin & the communities nearby including Martis Valley, Squaw Valley- Truckee River corridor areas.
Better Transportation in N. Lake Tahoe. Improvements to how road construction takes place. Hold road construction crews/contractors accountable for delays.
Rebuild roads in Tahoe.
Make Commercial Redevelopment, rebuilding the existing built development, affordable so that it will pencil. Including stream line process and costs of permits. Also incentives to help off set TRPA's Expensive RPU program that will only pencil for the very large projects. If not you will see the very old built property's continue crumble into nothing. OUT SIDE MONEY AND DEVELOPERS THAT MAY WANT TO GET INVOLVED HERE AT TAHOE BUT CAN NOT AND WILL NOT LET THERE MONEY STAND STILL while a lengthily process go through. THE MONEY PENDULUM HAS SWUNG TO A POSITIVE DIRECTION, IT WILL SWING BACK, HOPEFULLY NOT AS BAD AS 2008, BUT WILL SWING BACK SOME. LETS GET SOME PROPERTY'S REBUILT AND REDEVELOPED BEFORE THIS HAPPENS........
Intelligently pave roads in Tahoe with new technology
Maintain un-maintained roads for full time residents. Our tax dollars already pay for snow removal but being an un-maintained county right of way we must hire an independent snow service. Bring back the animal shelter to Tahoe basin. Winter roads are hazardous for transporting animals and people getting them to Truckee
Sadly, representation is not equal throughout the County. The Tahoe portion of Placer County is out voted and underrepresented at the Supervisor level. Incorporation may be our only method of self governance. The Placer County Supervisors do NOT have the Tahoe area's interests at heart. Shame on all of them (save for Jennifer Montgomery) - they do NOT have our best interests at heart.
I live in Tahoe and I wish we could make Lake Tahoe a State or National Park so that we can protect our environment/wildlife, etc.
Provide a better transit system at Tahoe so people know when it arrives and where it goes. The county may want to review the loading and rebalance their routes.
Less development on Tahoe West Shore. Make environmental protection a higher priority.
Incorporate more health / mental services in the Tahoe Truckee region
I do not believe that Placer County representatives are listening to the concerns of people living in the Tahoe-Truckee basin. We are in real danger of fire and yet they approved another 700-some houses, and all the additional traffic that will involve. Our basin is too congested already and we need to find a way to get less cars here, not more. When will a serious study of impacts be done to determine what our maximum capacity is? Many of us believe it has already been reached and are fearful for the future of our beautiful lake and any kind of quality of life.
To be more responsive to Tahoe City instead of only accommodating Auburn. There are a lot of people outside Auburn that have concerns. It would be nice if they would have meetings by the lake instead of making us go down to Auburn to address our concerns. There is a big tax base by Lake Tahoe.
Expand library services in Tahoe City
I live in North Tahoe and I think the Placer County Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors have done a terrible job representing my desires and those of many of my fellow property owners regarding the Martis Valley West development. We in North Tahoe have major concerns regarding emergency evacuation, workforce housing, and over-building of massive vacation homes. It seems that the people in charge have made a show of "listening" to our concerns and then have voted to go ahead and allow this project without a mitigation plan. I'd like those entities to consider how the Martis Valley project will work with all the other big projects that are now under consideration in the Tahoe area. Placer County is fortunate to have the world-class asset of Lake Tahoe in its boundaries and it seems that our leaders are disregarding its and its residents' long-term health for easy, short-term money. On another note, the county should invest much more money and support into its libraries.
Placer County administrators, particularly The Board of Supervisors, needs to pay attention to the very real, life-threatening emergency evacuation and public safety concerns for the residents and visitors of the North Shore of Lake Tahoe. Instead, they arrogantly ignore the stated safety concerns of the California Highway Patrol, North Tahoe Fire Protection District, the States Attorney General, every recognized area environmental organization and the overwhelming will of the residents of the communities they serve. Their blatant disregard for the environmental impacts to Lake Tahoe and the safety and well-being of the surrounding communities for the benefit of real estate developers appears criminal, bought and sold.
Please get rid of the guy who drives around ticketing people who park on the street between Nov 1 and April 1 in Tahoe when it's perfectly good weather and won't snow for a week. No problem having him come around when there is snow predicted or plowing is in progress. Let the plow drivers call in problems and have PCSO handle. Thank you
