1. Better Cell coverage in rural areas to run "constant" 4g hot spots for internet services. 2. At county and city centers and Urban areas (city of Placerville/Cameron Park/ED Hills) need Fiber Optic lines and runs for better faster connection for city/county business and local businesses.
Would love google fiber. We are limited to 2 providers. Talk about a monopoly.
In My area we cannot get cable and we have copper wire - no fiber. Me and many of my colleagues and friends have either AT&T which is horrible at this time due to the lack of upgrades, or we have satellite (HUGHESNET)for both phone and Internet which works well but NOT with VPN or Citrix services....we really need to upgrade to Fiber in this day and age for many purposes to include getting a higher caliber of home owner....It is my opinion that if business people cannot work with computers at their homes they cannot earn a decent waged living and will not purchase homes or business in our area. We are not THAT remote anymore!! Please help?
Fiber should be available to all El Dorado County Residents, including Lake Tahoe Basin residents. In addition, competition is key to keeping the costs low. Having only a single option for high speed internet at my home is UNACCEPTABLE.
I have a Fiber Optic line running directly in front of my property that could provide high speed internet for my home business but it's limited to public agencies (fire, schools, etc). I assume a lot of money went into laying that line and am dismayed that adequate foresight was not used to expand it's capabilities to local businesses (at minimum) if not residences. I wouldn't think the number of users in this rural environment would eat up enough bandwidth of Fiber Optic capabilities to diminish those agency's usage. To wit, my satellite internet has cut in & out several times in the past couple of hours alone due to the weather, thus interrupting my business operations, as well as my ability to respond to this survey. I have contacted Comcast for wired services multiple times but the quoted cost of $21,000 to run a line here is ludicrous.
Wish we had other options where we live... Fiber or cable would be preferred...
I live 0.7 miles from a fiber optic cable, but I can't get cable. I rely on a verizon hotspot that has overloaded capacity, so generally, it can't connect. I think this is a big issue in our county, and fixing it will allow more residents to work and employers to move to the region.
Please try and get Google Fiber in EDH!
Would love a choice of providers and Google Fiber.
I find it ridiculous that Comcast thinks it is reasonable to price 50mbps for my business account at a higher rate than my 150mbps at home. Why does Comcast get the monopoly for fast internet? Why can't AT&T provide the same? BRING US GOOGLE FIBER
Getting a fiber optic provider. Having the same range of choices as Folsom does
Fiber optics would be great.
Fiber to the household is not realistic in the vast majority of EDC locations. Internet access via cellular is also problematic without a robust cellular infrastructure. At home in Governors Village, my Verizon service is sparse and sporadic. I get a message for a missed call, and get a 'no service' when checking voicemail. Trying to get internet services just does not work in this situation. MY AT&T internet provider wanted me to upgrade to a fiber level service and assured me I have fiber to the house (which is not available in my area?
Fiber internet would be great
The only choice is Comcast. When are we getting fiber???????
It's critical that the county develop a fiber optic to premise infrastructure serving all county properties as AT&T withdraws from landline Internet and the cable franchisee offers service only within a limited footprint. Fiber landline infrastructure is necessary because wireless service cannot reliably serve all properties due to the county's terrain and foliage obstacles.
fiber optic goes up wentworth springs rd. to otter creek school (at the tune of 1million dollars!) on the georgetown divide...why for goodness sake, can't there be a contractor to service this area with that available FO!! ATT won't. their battle whine is "we can't make enough money, wah!!" please, I can go on about this ALL DAY!
It would be good to support Fiber as an alternative to cable
Consider installing fiber optic to help rural residents connect to the internet. This is an important capability as our world continues to evolve at a rapid pace.
High-speed/fiber optic internet is extremely important to the economic viability of this community. More and more people are working from home and rely on internet services. This should be a top priority for our local governments. I expect reliable high-speed internet. Would also like to see other competitors - essentially there is currently only one option for high-speed (charter/spectrum). the other service providers (frontier and satellite) do not offer high-speed (60 mps+)
It would be nice to see municipal fiber in more communities.
5th generation (5g) wireless represents 1,000 times the performance of existing 4g networks, making wired internet unnecessary for most households and businesses. Consider a public/private partnership to extend 5g service into underserved areas of the county, possibly using in-road fiber laid using micro trenching for backbone service that is leased to wireless access providers. This could open up new areas to smart farming and home-based knowledge workers - plus provide infrastructure for smart public safety sensors and resources into areas lacking anything of the sorts.
Get the fiber facilities that run right through Coloma functioning. Offer incentives to new startups for competition in wifi services
We need fiber optic internet services that run through our neighborhood but AT&T refuses to update into previously established communities. Salmon Falls/Malcolm Dixon/Green Valley Rd corridor.
