Improvements to and better maintenance for the golf course and an upgrade to the entire downhill ski facility (lifts and buildings) are very important to me. The survey forced me to pick only one amenity preference - a ranking would have been preferable.
We need to improve the golf course to keep pace with the other resort courses in the Truckee community
don't get rid of golf.
So much space and money used for golf. Would be nice if it was more open to non golfers
Personally, I think the golf course is a waste of money. I do wish camps and things for kids were affordable for those of us who live and work here full time. We can't afford them, they are priced for rich Bay Area folks. We do love the ski for free for 6 an under. The website needs improvement. It is missing key information and I have to call member services to figure things out...
It would be great to have a golf course trail /path groomed we can use during the golf off season for snow seeing or just walking. Northwood bike path or trail on the side all the way around to promote outdoor activities.
We'd like to see better food options at the Beach Club.. At the beach club, fresh, healthy options would be great for lunch and we can envision an upper-scale dinner option by the lake with an updated seating area. It's beautiful location and the outdoor seating / dining opportunity isn't being utilized. I believe that the golf course under-charges for nonmembers, resulting in over-crowding and making it difficult to get tee times during prime-time. I'd like to see non-member rates go way up, traffic on the course go down and lower greens-fees for members. TD has one of the top courses in Tahoe, IMO, and we shouldn't let anyone just walk on the course - particularly if they are crowding out members and driving up our costs.. In general, we think the amenities are excellent and represent good value to homeowners. However, I believe placing greater restrictions on use by non-members (not guests of members) will improve the experience (less crowds) for homeowners.
Improved maintenance of the golf course and golf practice range. Love having the pools open year round.
more pool umbrellas; beach umbrellas; more convenient youth golf camps/instruction
Fire the existing greenskeeper and hire a professional greenskeeper who cares. The golf course has gone steadily downhill over the last few years and there has been no noticeable effort to fix the deplorable condition of the course and practice area. My wife and I will switch to the Gray's Crossing / Old Greenwood courses if things don't improve this year.
- remove recreation fee addition - remove guest fees visiting with us, if members have also paid for recreation fee, so that we get value of having paid more fees - remove inclusive fees to subsidize golf for all members since many do not play; raise per use golf fees instead
I would like the golf course brought up to the standards set by Coyote Moon, Grays Crossing, Shafers Mill and Greenwood. I am concerned that the golf course is significantly falling behind the other courses in the area. The other amenities such as the pool, tennis and rec areas are much better than the competing facilities in the area.
Need to continue to improve the golf course.
The Tahoe Basin is a premier world-renown recreation destination. Aside from the Association's open space and trail network, I see no reason to invest in other recreational facilities. How many golf courses and ski areas does the region need?
Golf Course should increase fees. too cheap
The golf course needs improvement
The Lodge is great as it is and is in a very nice building. If we have to have the unsightly white tent there all summer long, move it to the side of the building closer to the Fire Station. The wedding parties still get a nice view of the golf course, and the DJ's music will be less obnoxious for the golf condo owners. As TD is trying to increase tent bookings, condo owners won't be able to be in their condos on most summer Fridays and Saturdays when they would otherwise sit out on their decks. If it's a hot summer day, they have to close up all the windows just to try and dampen the noise. If the tent was being proposed next to a Board Member's home, just think!? Move the tent to the Adventure Ctr where it's placed without spoiling views and there aren't any neighbors as close. Much more parking there too. Do away with the tent and have a proper kitchen installed.
I do not think the golf course is a good use of resources, both fiscally and environmentally
The golf course and driving range are in need of maintenance and upgrading, especially the range mats/tees and balls.
Continue to work on golf course improvements and maintenance. Expand fitness center and pool areas if possible.
More summer concerts, maybe on Ski Hill area, vs the golf course!
Lower costs. I ski, golf, participate less over the years due to constant price increases.
The golf course needs major improvements.
Golf course was NOT well maintained last summer Lodge restaurant needs a more mountain friendly menu including some comfort food items and full breakfast menu during high seasons. Or at least offer full breakfast at pizza on the hill during high seasons
Before any amenity improvement is considered I feel it is appropriate to conduct a return on investment study. Furthermore, some amenities should produce a net overall , not just operating, profit. For example the golf course, lodge and all food facilities should be able to at least break even. Otherwise association members are effectively subsidizing each other’s meals and golf game. Golf courses and restaurants are generally considered enterprises which should make a net overall profit. Right now we applaud the operating profit but neglect the other expenses(improvements) which impact the net overall results. Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
Improvement of the ski resort as it is the largest source of revenue for the Association. I would like to see higher fees for the golf course as it is continually loosing money. The current prices to play golf seem significantly below market value for members.
The tennis center has had NO improvements. The golf club needs lockers and decent bathrooms. The rental from the lockers would pay for itself over a few years. That would make the club an upgraded facility.
Residents should not have to subsidize money losing amenities like golf course. If the golf course is not making enough money to break even, then charge more fee. If the downhill ski area is one amenity that is making money, then improve the chair lift loading and unloading areas.
Please either remove the tent at the Lodge, or move it to the adventure center. The eyesore and the noise are very disruptive to those of us who reside next door. I am unable to use my outdoor space at all on the weekends in the summer due to the volume of music. I've owned in the Golf Course Condos since 2000 and the entire tent atmosphere was not part of what I bought into.
Increase green fees as the golf show pay for itself or make a profit. Currently it is run like a private club for just a few members who book all the tee times. Maintain the activities and spirit at the tennis club. Encourage more social activities at cross country. We enjoyed the musicians last summer.
Stop focusing on golf, stop wasting money by planning for the short term only. Replace the majority of the HOA board and fire the general manager .
Amenities are fine. We mostly just use the trail system. We don't use the beach since we like to take our dog when we go to the lake. Occasionally use the gym/pool. We don't golf. I don 't want to pay more for additional amenities. One improvement that needs to be done is speed limit enforcement in Tahoe Donner. Out of control speeding is the biggest negative to living in Tahoe Donner.
Would like to see improvements to the golf course and a new lodge for the downhill ski area.
Fat bikes ruin cross country ski trails. I don’t agree that the actions of one bike punching tracks in the middle of ski trails should be allowed to ruin the experience of hundreds. Why can’t there be dedicated fat bike trails like dog trails. Maybe I have just been unlucky but they have ruined the trails I have skated on at least half the days I have skiied this year. Can’t the golf course, which is unused in the winter, be the fat bike center? Maybe it will take someone falling and getting seriously injured after hitting a six inch deep fat bike rut right down the middle of a ski trail to change things.
We have belonged to Tahoe Donner since 1973 when my father bought. Now my grandkids also enjoy it. We are particularly pleased with the constant maintenance of all the facilities, and, yes, we use them all, particularly the gym/pools at Trout Creek, cross country center (THE BEST), and the golf course, and the beach. Thanks for all your great work!
Please continue to maintain/improve the Golf Course in order to keep it as a pristine amenity.
Thank you for doing such a good job. We enjoy many of the amenities. The beach, xc, lodge, trout creek rec center, golf course and mtn biking are amongst our favorites. Adding more single track trails would be great.
I would like to see improvements to the golf course
I would like to see existing amenities maintained to their current standard. I think as time goes on, golf will become even more marginalized so I don’t see any purpose in putting in more money for the golf course. I would like the trail signs in Euer Valley improved for hiking purposes. They are currently confusing.
Reciprocity with area golf courses which does not seem to exist
Do not spend 20 million on down hill ski lodge. We need to decide if the amenities are intended for the use of home owners, or are we intending to market to the public? I'm tired of subsidising money loosing activities like golf. If it can't self support maybe its time to outsource the operations
Add to the Ski bowl: Snow making for Eagle Rock routes, updated lodge or ski connectivity to the Adventure Center (which would require a new chair from Adventure Center to the top and access to Mile Run. Improvements to the Golf Course drainage to allow longer open time. Working with Town of Truckee for low cost housing for seasonal workers, which all amenities benefit from.
