Let them smoke in their cars. No smoking should be allowed close to any entry or around any building.
Smoking or vaping should not be allowed in or near any public building in Placer County or any other County in the State!!!!
Smoking or vaping should be allowed only in the privacy of one's vehicle, not in any public areas outside Placer County buildings.
Allowing a 20-25' open distance from building entrances/exits as a buffer zone from a designated smoking area would be nice.
Thank you for paying attention to this issue! We have done so much to rid our surroundings of second hand smoke but every time I am exposed it is uncomfortable, annoying, as well as unhealthy! Also, it is a bad example to set for our kids to see people smoking and vaping in doorways - one of the biggest reasons smoking is down is that it is less socially acceptable - we don't want to turn that around through allowing vaping and having kids see it and think it's ok. Thank you!
Don t allow it and not on commons beach as well
I think that the concept of restricting smoking to being a certain distance from an entryway is a good and valid one. I think that attempting to restrict smoking from any sidewalks or in parking structures where there should be room for others to move and there should be more airflow to dissipate the smoke/vapor is placing yet another restriction on smokers that should still have the option to smoke if they desire. This whole movement to force people not to smoke (or vape) is reminiscent of the Prohibition and we all saw where that ended up. It is still a basic freedom to allow individuals to make some personal choices about their own health and well being. I would like to think that most would attempt to be courteous but, considering the ever-increasing restrictions being imposed on them, I can understand if there might be some difficulty for them to maintain that courtesy.
I approve of non smoking areas at entrances to buildings, but feel it should be allowed in open spaces i.e. parking lots, parks, etc.
I would be greatly appreciative if smoking was not allowed on county property at all. There are many individuals (clients and staff) whose 2nd hand smoke is overwhelming to the front entrance to the building, as well as the entrance to the Clubhouse. The 2nd hand smoke from Cornerstone is also a hindrance, with the smell carrying into the building.
People should be allowed to go to the parking lot.
For the health of all our residents and visitors, smoking and vaping should not be allowed near Placer County buildings - or any other business or organization buildings.
I would support this if the parking lot was allowed. It seems too strict to include the parking lot. What if people were in their cars sitting in the parking lot? It seems that should be acceptable to me.
Smokers should be allowed to smoke in designated areas but not near the public entrance to county buildings. On the side or parking lot is preferred.
The Survey did not allow the option of how far away from the building you can smoke. I do not like smoking outside the doors of the building or in areas where people need to walk to get into the building. I feel they should be aloud to smoke in the parking lot as long as you do not have to walk through the smoke to get into the building. They have the right to smoke as much as I have the right to not inhale their smoke.
Smoking is bad as we all agree but why are we taking tax money to allow marijuana use I would think it’s bad also or are we allowing it for the money
Citizens should not be subjected to second hand smoke in public places - least of all government buildings! Additionally, allowing smokers/vapers a specified area will only encourage government employees to take more work time they are being paid for by citizens in addition to lunch hours and restroom breaks.
Smoking is such an unhealthy activity that by allowing it to occur right outside County Office Doors, it’s almost as if Placer Co. is endorsing it. I think for the health of everyone, smoking should not be allowed in front of, behind, or near county buildings. As a former smoker, I have been on both sides of the doorway, so to speak...this is about basic public health.
I personally think that smoking shouldn't be allowed where people congregate or by doors. I do believe smokers have a right but give them an area away from the buildings to have there smoke.
If doors, sidewalks, and parking lots are prohibited, where would smoking be allowed? While I'd like to limit second-hand smoke, agreeing with this depends on what the alternatives are; I don't want to pay for a new smoking structure, as one example.
Roseville should not allow snoking in public spaces.
Where are people supposed to smoke? I'm concerned that if they aren't allowed to smoke outside of buildings where ashtrays and garbage cans are located, they are going to smoke in parking lots and other places and just drop the butts on the ground. Smokers are going to smoke, this law would not stop that, it will just make more litter, in my opinion.
Should not be in doorways but I believe it should be allowed in parking lots
The voters do not select elected representatives to allow any disturbances in Public buildings supposedly functioning for the voters benefits. That is why we have elections. Stop with the select tiny minority activist interests in having it their way. Add no tobacco spitting inside the buildings? No employee three bean Burritos for lunch in elevators? Get down to reality. Just stop the foul air and get on with real county problems like getting creative and finding new methods of business income magnets. Smokers will die without your help soon enough. County supervisors haven't got a clue or a plan. Look what other States are creating for venture capital and a massive influx of new businesses, and you are concerned about polling on doorway smoking? Try poling on new formations of Community capital pooling and formation of more "jump start our business act" , crowdfunding, mini accelerator programs, MICRO M&A and other new tax income creating movements. Get some economic backbone
I believe all of us have a right to healthy air. People who smoke can go sit in their car to smoke. For me, there is no public place where smoking of vaping should be allowed.
Smoking should be allowed in their cars or across the street from public buildings say 500 feet
My complaint is about people who smoke outside their homes. My home is regularly infused with their smoke. They should only be allowed to smoke inside their homes
Please do not allow smoking or vaping outside Placer County buildings.
I agree with no smoking in front of doors, etc. But people should be allowed to smoke in parking lot or sidewalks.
No smoking on public property or allowing smoke to propagate from private property
How about NOT allowing smoking or vaping outside outside ALL public and private buildings. Smokers may smoke in their own car, house, etc and not jeopardize the health of others.
Shouldn't be allowed on property. Smokers tend to throw their butts everywhere and out of cars, just makes me sick.
Smoking or vaping outside of any building or structure should be prohibited. We don't pay for our air . We have the right to breath clean air. Cigarettes are something someone pays for and they are a habit. They should not be allowed to take my right of breathing clean air away.
I agree with not allowing people to smoke within 20 feet of a doorway but to say they can’t smoke in a parking lot or on the sidewalk is just ridiculous! That’s overstepping boundaries! Smokers have rights too, they pay an exorbitant amount of taxes to this state! More and more rights being taken away from people! People treat smokers like lepers! Corral them to a corner, people will still find a way to smoke and now that you won’t have designated smoking areas with ash trays, cigarettes will be littered
should never be allowed. the distance needs to be very, very far.
Dont allow in doorways , but do allow in areas where there is open air all around.
Smoking /vaping should not be allowed within 30 feet of County/ public buildings
Second hand smoke is dangerous. Please do not allow smoking near public buildings.
should not be allowed for 25ft.
There needs to be a restrictive perimeter around county buildings so as to allow those of allergic to the smoke/vape to enter a public county building without getting a huge immediate headache.
Cigarette smoke is a carcinogen. Allowing this to occur anywhere near an entrance or pathway to a building is advocating liability and promoting an unhealthy environment.
I worked in a county building where smoking was allowed many years ago. I believe my asthma that I now have was caused by this. I was raised in a smoke free environment and have never smoked myself. Let the smokers have an area only for themselves.
While I am not a smoker people should be allowed to do so as long as they do not bother others. I think it is good to have designated areas outside where people can smoke and not disturb other with the vapors and second hand smoke. Thank you.
While 2nd hand smoke is absolutely a danger in regards to cigarettes, numerous studies have shown the 2nd hand vapor from e-cigarettes does not contain any harmful elements and the nicotine is almost entirely absorbed by the lungs. I am in support of prohibiting any form of smoking near doorways or windows, but should be allowed anywhere that is a reasonable distance away such as parking lots
It is a preventable health risk. Individuals are allowed, but all efforts need to be taken to prevent health and death risks of smoking and vaping. I am a physician.
I’d support not allowing smoking in doorways
Smokers have rights too. Smoking outside should be allowed
Not pleasant. Should not be allowed.
When entering any building with people who are standing nearby and smoking, I usually find that I cough almost immediately, so I obviously inhale the smoke from their cigarettes or vape unless I cover my mouth and nose and try not to breath when passing by, which I often do. I also do not like that dogs are now appearing in stores and restaurant patios everywhere I go They are all over the place in stores that sell food products, etc. I have seen tons of people placing little dogs in the seat area of shopping carts where children sit as they enter the stores. The dogs buttocks sit where a little child might sit later, which could expose the child to worms, fleas, etc. Disgusting and unhealthy. Everyone claims that their dog is a service dog even when they are not actually trained to be one. The law is truly clear on what types of service dog is allowed inside stores. It is not a psychological service dog, as many assume.
Ban for outside the entry door, but allow in parking lots and sidewalks away from entrances.
Smoking or vaping shouldn't be allowed outside ANY buildings including Placer County buildings. I can't stand it when you can smell smoke while being outside or inside.
Enforce regulations regarding smoking near restaurants. The patio at The Timbers in Del Webb Roseville allows smoking within a few feet of the entrance to the restaurant.
Only allow down wind and far enough from doors and outdoor sitting areas so others in those areas don't have to smell it.
I agree with sidewalks being prohibited, but I think the parking lot should be allowed, maybe extend the distance from the entrance
I am more open to banning smoking and allowing vaping rather than blanket banning both.
